Gurkha refers to a historic district in Nepal, the birthplace of King Prithvi Narayan Shah who unified modern Nepal, and the origin of the legendary, brave warriors known globally as Gurkhas. It’s a significant cultural and historical hub, home to the Gorkha Durbar (palace) and Gorakhnath Cave, and serves as a gateway to trekking in the Himalayas, embodying Nepali heritage and martial prowess.
Gurkha District is the fourth largest district of the country in terms of area. It is historically linked with the creation of modern Nepal and the name of the legendary Gorkha soldiers Gorkha district is the site of the Manakamana Temple,[1] as well as Gorakhnath and Gorakh Kali temples. Several major rivers—including the Chepe, Daraudi, Marsyangdi, Budi Gandaki, and Trishuli—run through the district.
